AIDS Volunteers Ghana Association(AVGA) is dedicated to promoting volunteering in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The AIDS Volunteers Ghana Association (AVGA) is a grass root Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) registered with the Registrar General's Department of Ghana as a non-profit-making company, limited by guarantee. AVGA was set up to address issues on HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and also specialise in community development, institutional strengthening (Capacity Building) at the district and community levels.

Currently, AVGA is embarking on a one year project which is being funded by the Ghana AIDS Commission to Empower the Youth and the People Living With HIV/AIDS to reduce vulnerability and impact of HIV/AIDS in ten selected communities in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of Ashanti Region of Ghana."
AVGA's school outreach programme is progressively taking root in some selected basic schools in Accra. Through the organization's HIV/AIDS education campaign HIV/AIDS clubs knows as Anti-AIDS Clubs, have been initiated and formed in some selected basic schools in Accra. Such as the one at the Great Lamptey Mills School at Abbosey Okai in Accra with a number of over 200 children from the ages of 8 to 15 years.

The organization has also been actively involved in church outreach programmes where church leaders, groups and other church members have been educated on issues on HIV/AIDS and STIs. As a result of this, some of the youth groups in some churches such as Kotobabi Presby Church have formed Anti-AIDS club to propagate the message on AIDS and its prevention.  The association has demonstrated commitment to HIV/AIDS prevention in Ghana and elsewhere as has been demonstrated by its representation in a number of national forums. Due to AVGA's commitment to promote volunteering in the fight against HIV/AIDS, two members of the organization were selected to work as conference volunteers for the XIV INTERNATIONAL AIDS CONFERENCE in Barcelona, Spain.

AVGA has also developed working partnerships with Ghana Aids Commission, John Hopkins University (Center for Development Communication Programs), Ghana HIV/AIDS Network (GHANET), churches, district assemblies and NGOs in HIV/AIDS campaign/education.
The use of participatory methodologies in data collection and needs assessment is a hallmark of our delivery. To confirm all information that is collected, the process of triangulation is used. Focus group discussions are also used to capture the views of vulnerable groups such as PLWHAs, women and children.
